Scottish Rugby Union's key digital presence was suffering due to an outdated user experience and content delivery platform. The site was specifically complicated and had become both an overhead and pain point for both SRU staff and the fans who came to visit. The backend lacked some basic functionality for the team to take scores and at the time was a manual process where teams had to call in with their results every weekend and one of the SRU web team would update the result tables.
Along with an updated brand and a fully reworked IA the site had a number of front facing functions that are worth calling out. The home page was multi use and needed to switch between a number of layouts to cater for pre match promotion, match day, product launch and day to day news. The site also had to be capable of handling themes so that both Edinburgh and Glasgow teams could utilise the new CMS system.
